If you don't have regular access to the specialist media-shops you might well miss seeing 'Cinefex' on their shelves in the UK mainly cos it sells out so quickly. Even more so as back-issues are rarely in stock.

It either sells that well or not enough copies are ordered.

This is the behind-the-scenes magazine on film special effects that even the professionals read. Each issue - quarterly release - covers the effects in great detail of at least two films with behind and in front of the camera footage with detailing how things are done.

This issue should be of particular interest to those who are into the new 'Spider-Man' and 'Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones' movies as you get a blow-by-blow account of their effects.

If you can't get enough of the 'Making Of' books that are released, then you'll be quite comfortable here. The language isn't so technical that you can't pick up what they're talking about and feel quite at home.

I do have a tiny confession to make. As I tend to watch films when they have a video release, I tend to delay reading my Cinefexes until after I've seen them.

On this rare occasion, I've read early but doubt this will disrupt my watching either film. If anything, it'll probably be an even more healthy respect for the names of the special effects crews that populate the credits.

Reading 'Cinefex' gives a greater appreciation for all the work and money that is spent on these Science Fiction blockbusters.
