Paul lives in Kensington Gardens and his everyday life is filled with fantasy. He talks to the animals, the birds, the supernatural residents and even the odd pirate he meets near the statue of 'The Boy'. A great sadness comes to Paul's life and his beloved dad goes away. Dad has filled his head with fantastic tales and Paul is left with the bleak reality of a grieving mother who no longer loves him. If Paul is to be the man of the house, he must make his mother happy again.

If only he can be The Boy he sees in the mirror. The Boy does look a little like him but this time Paul must make up his own story and be the hero of it.

Feeding directly from 'Peter Pan', this is a dark tale with bravery, self-sacrifice and the awful burden of growing up. Characters are ever so slightly familiar but warped by reflection. The Boy is not the mainstay of the story but his emotions are part of how Paul must deal with the challenge he finds in Anyplace. Once part of his dreams, he must travel there in reality to find something to make his mother happy again.

Up pops Fiddlefix, the fairy that The Boy had cruelly condemned by his unbelief. Her desire to get revenge on The Boy fires the journey that Paul makes to Anyplace.

'Peter Pan' is a story that resonates through generations of children and so it comes a more sophisticated version for the complex little souls we produce today. The dream-like narration and complex imagery is very pleasing. This is a great adventure story with lots of meanings to be extracted by willing, perhaps older, readers.

It's very enjoyable and a welcome extrapolation of the original story.
