Foundation Imaging and FlatEarth Films have got together for the greatest collaborative effort since some thin guy named Laurel met some fat guy named Hardy.

Our chaps with the sfx software have got together to make, wait for it, a CGI cartoon series based on Robert Heinlein's novel Starship Troopers, and looking at their Bugs, one also influenced by the glossy film of the same name.

An initial forty episodes are being made, using techniques similar to those which have been used for Transformers: Beast Wars.

This time however, they are addressing one of the biggest criticisms of the movie.

You know the one. Where's the power armour battle suits, man?

Obviously, not free of other media influences, some of their more Imperial Walker-like suit designs reminded us of an evolved model of the power-loader from the Aliens movie.

From the pre-production graphics and concept sketches, it looks like there's going to be some good stuff being pumped out - organic Bug fighter craft and star-ships, the whole works.

Space Above and Beyond, move on over. There's a new team in town. And they're rendered .
