One always seems to preclude the other ... you either get vapid, thin pieces of Macromedia Flash (that just beg the question WHY), or you get billions of pages of juicy SF/F content ... that looks like it's been put together by your Aunt Ethel using a knitting pattern from Old Woman magazine. Happily, this month we have found a site that not only looks good, but it is so packed to the gunnels with the good stuff that it kind of reminds us of, well ... us! But us only focusing on one subject ... the Doctor that is Who! Yes, it's Gallifrey One, the internet's best-looking Doctor Who news and information magazine, as edited by Shaun Lyon. For a BBC TV series that has (bloody sadly) not seen any product save fan output and share cropped novels for too many a year, these lads and lasses and doing a mighty fine job at keeping the flame alive for everyone's favorite Dalek and Cyberman-busting Time Lord. You'll find all the normal areas on the site, including news and articles, discussion forums and message boards, a surprisingly full release guide for forthcoming Doctor Who merchandise, details of Gallifrey One (North America's annual Doctor Who convention), and the Canon Keepers' Guide - their canon & continuity directory. There's also interviews with Doctor Who authors,Who fan fiction, episode guides, an unofficial timeline, the ubiquitous convention calendar, and a fan club directory. This site is so blooming comprehensive, it should be a blueprint for every TV series-inspired fan site. Hot damn, but these people are good! Now, where did I put that sonic screwdriver?
