Harry Potter. Everyone's favorite boy wizard. Or ... is he? Do these books - and the new movie - open up a world of wonder for the young (and young at heart). Or is it just a load of old marketing wank?

90% Wonder. The marketing men might have capitalized on the success of the books; but that success came from a well written series of books which have become The Hobbit for this generation of young readers. It's fiction. And it's damn fine.

90% Hype. The only sense of wonder you get from Harry Potter is that the marketing machine of the book and film world can now create talentless pop stars in the same twee fashion that the music world has been churning out for decades. Potter is the bastard Boy Band of the fantasy world.
